Event Cancellations and Coronavirus

Dear church family,

We face some uncertain times ahead with the current virus epidemic, but as Christians we have a hope in Christ that can not be taken away. So let us be hopeful and joyful in every circumstance, supporting one another in love, and being a light to all around. Please see below for further information about event cancellations, and current Coronavirus guidance from the Methodist church.

Coronavirus Advice

Services at Burniston will continue to take place for the time being, however the current advice from the Methodist church is that the elderly and those with health issues should consider not attending services. Also, anyone flu symptoms such as a fever or cough should not attend for the safety of others. We will try to ensure that audio recordings of services are made available.

It may also be appropriate to refrain from handshaking and other close contact. Good hand hygiene is vital in reducing the spread of the virus. Wash hands with soap and water often or use hand sanitiser gel.

You are welcome to come on your own or with a friend (or more), however please reserve any spaces you require so that we can ensure that there are enough study guides (and seats) for everyone.

Christianity Explored gives you the time and space to think about the big questions of life and to consider the life of the person at the heart of the Christian faith—Jesus Christ. It might be the best news you’ve ever heard!

Each week the focus is on a different aspect of Jesus’ life, and of our lives. The course works through Mark’s Gospel, one of the life stories of Jesus found in the Bible.

  • What are we doing here?
  • Who is Jesus?
  • Why did Jesus come?
  • Why did Jesus die?
  • Why did Jesus rise?
  • How can God accept us?
  • What does it mean to follow Jesus?

Each session will have a short Bible study, thought provoking video, and an opportunity for discussion. Tea, coffee and other refreshments will be available.
