On Sunday 2nd July, Reverend Emma Morgan preached about Living Stones from 2 Peter at the Celebration Service. The gist of the sermon was about how we can learn from the old to make things new, eg, those who have gone before had laid the foundation for what we are now building, and our young people are currently learning how to build on that for the future of the church. (The thought-provoking sermon is available on our website.) The children were asked to take a stone from a bag or a (paper) brick and build a wall of living stones, ie, what their vision was for the church in 100 years.
Songs of celebration led by our contemporary worship band and singers included Holy Holy Holy, From the Highest of Heights, Creator God and the young people played and sang Over all the Earth, The Robinson family read 2 Peter 2:1-10 and The Cooper family led prayers of intercession. The service concluded with the song ‘My Hope is Built on Nothing Less’ (Cornerstone) and the sharing of The Grace.
Emma prayed over the young people as the annual prizes were given out. The congregation then shared in fun and fellowship over a BBQ lunch on the grassed play area at the back of church.
